Questions

The short version: you type your family, or record a sound, and the poster draws itself on your device. You pay once (US$12.99 for the family tree poster, US$9.99 for the sound wave poster and US$8.99 for the crossword and word search gift) and make the files yourself. Nothing you type or record is sent to us. Refunds: 30 days, no questions asked.

Everything people ask

What does the family tree poster cost?

US$12.99, once. There is no subscription and nothing else to buy. Any sales tax or VAT where you live is shown on Stripe’s page before you pay.

What does the sound wave poster cost?

US$9.99, once, for the files of one sound. Record a few words or choose a file on the sound wave page; the poster draws on your device, and the download page lets you change the words and make the files again.

What does the crossword gift cost?

US$8.99, once, for the puzzle sheet, the answer key and the poster of one crossword or word search, from the clues you type on the crossword page.

Do you print and post the poster?

No. You get files: PDFs in five print sizes, a 300 dpi picture and a phone picture, all made on your own device after you pay. Print at home or upload the PDF to any print shop.

Which sizes are in the files?

18 × 24, 24 × 36, 16 × 20 and 11 × 14 inches, and A2 (which also prints well at A3 and A4). For the posters, each one is a page in the all-sizes PDF, so a print shop can pick the one it stocks; the puzzle PDF comes in the size you choose.

Portrait or landscape?

Both. Leave “Best fit” on and the maker picks the shape that suits your tree: wide families go landscape, deep ones portrait. Or choose one yourself.

How many people and generations fit?

Up to 60 people. Seven generations is a practical limit; past that the names get small. The preview says how big the names will print, in points.

Someone has two partners. How do I show that?

This version draws one family line per person, with one partner beside them. Put all their children on that line, or make two posters, one for each marriage.

Both sets of grandparents are on my poster and the maker refuses. Why?

This version draws a couple under one set of parents. When both partners are children of lines above, drawing them under both sets would show them twice, so the maker says so instead. Leave one side’s parents off, or make two posters, one for each side. If the maker has joined two different people who share a first name, type their full names on both lines.

Can I write names in Chinese, Arabic or another script?

Not yet. The fonts in the files print Latin letters with accents (so José, Zoë and Søren are fine). Names in other scripts would print as blank boxes, so the maker asks you to type them in Latin letters for now.

Where do the names go?

Nowhere. The tree is drawn in your browser and the files are made there. Our server and Stripe learn only which product you bought. The names stay in your browser’s storage so the download page can find them; clear your browser data for this site to remove them.

Where does my recording go?

Nowhere. Your browser reads the sound and keeps only a few hundred loudness numbers, which are what the poster draws. The recording itself is never sent to us, and a voice cannot be rebuilt from those numbers. If you give a link for the scan-to-listen code, it is printed in your files and stays on your device.

Can I sell these posters in my own shop?

Yes, with the sellers’ licence: US$19 a month opens a studio where you make all three products for your own customers, with your brand line at the bottom of every file and no address of ours. See the page for sellers.

I lost the download link.

Email hello@keepsakestudio.app with the email address you paid with, and we will send the link again. The link keeps working: it makes your files again, with any changes you make.

What if I am not happy with it?

Refunds: 30 days, no questions asked. Email us within 30 days of buying and we refund you in full, back to the way you paid.
